On November 28, 2013 Deacon Keith Fournier wrote an article entitled “Fatima and the Conversion of Russia: Pope Francis Meets President Putin,” for the Catholic Online Website.
In our August 03, 2016 Editorial, we discussed the Fatima Vision of 1917 which included the message that Mary delivered to three youths. The third vision predicted the conversion of Russia. The point should be made that Revelation 13 verse 12 might appear difficult to accomplish since some of the countries in this world were atheistic and communist. However Russia, perhaps because of the apparition of Mary and the Fatima vision, has already begun the necessary shift from atheistic communism to defender of the Eastern Orthodox faith. Deacon Fournier describes the meeting between Putin and Pope Francis.
“In the afternoon of Monday 25 November 2013, the President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr. Vladimir Putin, was received in audience by the Holy Father Francis. Mr. Putin subsequently went on to meet with the Secretary of State, Archbishop Pietro Parolin, who was accompanied by the Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Dominique Mamberti. During the cordial discussions, satisfaction was expressed for the good existing bilateral relations, and the Parties focused on various questions of common interest, especially in relation to the life of the Catholic community in Russia, revealing the fundamental contribution of Christianity in society. This was an important meeting that demonstrated the earnestness with which the Vatican has pursued the healing of the relationship with Russia and the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the fulfillment of the Fatima prophecy regarding the “Conversion of Russia.”
“The Moscow Times noted that the meeting was a part of an official State visit of the President of Russia to Italy. However, they also noted that it was one more sign of the warming of relations between the Roman Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches. In the report by Gabrielle Tétrault-Farber filed on the day of the meeting the Times also noted another meeting which preceded this one. This is why, on February 9, 2016, Sputnik News Website published an article entitled “Pope Francis Sees Putin as 'Only Man' to Defend Christians around the World.” Putin has signed off on laws that restrict the assembling of churches outside of the established church buildings, thereby protecting the viability of the Eastern Orthodox Churches. He has also outlawed homosexuality and what the Russian mandate has described as immoral behavior. Furthermore, the article in the Sputnik News Website says this:
“In an attempt to defend Christians in the Middle East and other parts of the world where they're being persecuted, Pope Francis wants to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin for help. According to Pope Francis, Putin is "the only one with whom the Catholic Church can unite to defend Christians in the East." It's important to join efforts [with Russia] to save Christianity in all regions [of the world] where it's oppressed," Russia's Metropolitan Hilarion said*. It would therefore appear that the re-conversion of Russia to Catholicism is complete. Notice the warning given in the book The Great Controversy page 578:
“The influence of Rome in the countries that once acknowledged her dominion is still far from being destroyed. And prophecy foretells a restoration of her power. "I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast." Verse 3. The infliction of the deadly wound points to the downfall of the papacy in 1798. After this, says the prophet, "his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast."
