The Science of the flood

On October 17, 2005 Ker Than wrote an article for the “Live Science” website. According to his bio, Ker Than is a science writer based in New York City. He has a masters degree from New York University’s Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting Program (SHERP). Before becoming a freelancer, he was a staff writer at LiveScience.com and Space.com. He is a contributor to several publications, including National Geographic News, New Scientist, Nature News, and Popular Science. He's also the author of children’s books about stars and earthquakes for Scholastic.
The title of that October 17, 2005 article on the “Live Science” website was: “Scientists: Natural Disasters Becoming More Common.” Ker gives a clear indication of the increase in disasters with the following statement.
“Along with the Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), the Center for Research on Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) in Brussels, Belgium, maintains an emergency disaster database called EM-DAT. An event is categorized as a natural disaster if it kills 10 or more people or leaves at least 100 people injured, homeless, displaced or evacuated. An event is also included in the database if a country declares it a natural disaster or if requires the country to make a call for international assistance. According to the EM-DAT, the total natural disasters reported each year has been steadily increasing in recent decades, from 78 in 1970 to 348 in 2004.” Ker Than “Scientists: Natural Disasters Becoming More Common.” “Live Science” website
The numbers are indicative of a steady increase. Ker Than gives the explanation that is quite common among scientists for these events.
“Scientists believe the increase in hydro-meteorological disasters is due to a combination of natural and man-made factors. Global warming is increasing the temperatures of the Earth's oceans and atmosphere, leading to more intense storms of all types, including hurricanes. Natural decadal variations in the frequency and intensity of hurricanes are also believed to be a contributing factor, as are large-scale temperature fluctuations in the tropical waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean, known as El Niño and La Niña.” Ker Than “Scientists: Natural Disasters Becoming More Common.” “Live Science” website
These explanations seem incredibly reasonable, especially since the argument has existed for such a long time. Also, if these disasters were caused by the unpredictable actions of “mother earth” then we would not be liable in any way for the events. This brings to mind the attitudes demonstrated after the flood. The following is recorded in the book Patriarchs and Prophets, page 119 and paragraph 1.
“The dwellers on the plain of Shinar disbelieved God's covenant that He would not again bring a flood upon the earth. Many of them denied the existence of God and attributed the Flood to the operation of natural causes. Others believed in a Supreme Being, and that it was He who had destroyed the antediluvian world; and their hearts, like that of Cain, rose up in rebellion against Him. One object before them in the erection of the tower was to secure their own safety in case of another deluge. By carrying the structure to a much greater height than was reached by the waters of the Flood, they thought to place themselves beyond all possibility of danger. And as they would be able to ascend to the region of the clouds, they hoped to ascertain the cause of the Flood. The whole undertaking was designed to exalt still further the pride of its projectors and to turn the minds of future generations away from God and lead them into idolatry.” Patriarchs and Prophets, page 119 and paragraph 1.
Ker says that the scientists believe that global warming along with the location of settlements is responsible for the rising frequency of calamity.
“According to the World Bank's "Natural Disaster Hotspots: A Global Risk Analysis" report released in March, more than 160 countries have more than a quarter of their populations in areas of high mortality risks from one or more natural disasters. Taiwan was singled out as being the place on Earth most vulnerable to natural disasters, with 73 percent of its land and population exposed to three or more threats.” Ker Than “Scientists: Natural Disasters Becoming More Common.” “Live Science” website
Notice the similarity of the objective in building the tower of Babel:
One object before them in the erection of the tower was to secure their own safety in case of another deluge. And as they would be able to ascend to the region of the clouds, they hoped to ascertain the cause of the Flood. Patriarchs and Prophets, page 119 and paragraph 1.
Interestingly enough, one other object of that tower of Babel that is similar to today’s agenda is this:
“Here they decided to build a city, and in it a tower of such stupendous height as should render it the wonder of the world. These enterprises were designed to prevent the people from scattering abroad in colonies. God had directed men to disperse throughout the earth, to replenish and subdue it; but these Babel builders determined to keep their community united in one body, and to found a monarchy that should eventually embrace the whole earth. Thus their city would become the metropolis of a universal empire; its glory would command the admiration and homage of the world and render the founders illustrious. The magnificent tower, reaching to the heavens, was intended to stand as a monument of the power and wisdom of its builders, perpetuating their fame to the latest generations. Patriarchs and Prophets, page 118 and paragraph 5.
Here indeed would be a “New World Order.”
